Event: Late season snowstorm: 13" at Gardiner, MA; 1/2 million without power. Snowfall of 10" Natick-Wellesley area. Total 3" in NW Rhode Island. Half-inch in downtown Boston.

Place: Des Moines, IA
Year: 1986
Event: Seven inches of rain in a 3-hour period causes record flooding. 520 homes were flooded, totalling $16 million damage, but nobody was hurt.
