During the storms on August 10, 2009, our nieghbor's tree was hit by lightning. The tree was striped of a lot of its bark and there is a spot at the base of the tree where the dirt is dug out about 5 inches deep where the lightning arked and entered the ground. The man in the picture planted the tree himself about 50 years ago from an acorn.
