Stop by Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Woodlawn Ohio this Sunday for the 143rd church anniversary featuring Rev. Dr. Henry Wise Jones, Pastor, Mt. Zion Second Baptist Church, Atlanta, GA; former pastor of Mount Zion (1984-1998).

Mount Zion Facts:
• Four years after the close of the Civil War, what is now known as Mount Zion Baptist Church began in Lockland.

• Mount Zion was a hub of the Civil Rights movement in the 1960’s. The Late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. spoke at Mount Zion on at least two occasions.

• Mount Zion is currently located in Woodlawn, with a membership of more than 300, under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. T. Scott Swan, I.



Rev. Jones was pastor of Mt. Zion from
1984-1998:
The Reverend Henry Wise Jones was called as pastor. Under his Leadership the mortgage was liquidated through "Debt Free 94" campaign. The mortgage was burned on September 24, 1994. Under the leadership of Reverend Jones, the 100 Voice Women's Choir was formed, the Senior Citizens Group and the Girl Scout Troop established. The need for Youth Ministry was emphasized.
