First full-squad Reds workout Wednesday
GOODYEAR, Ariz. (Mike Berk) -- After five days of having just pitchers and catchers working out, the Reds' full team reports to spring training Wednesday.
The team had their physicals, about a 40 minute full-team meeting, and then their first workout. In between all these events, Homer Bailey's six year, 105 million dollar deal was finalized.
There was no shortage of activity Wednesday. Joey Votto and the guys did some in-field practice after the team meeting. They also hit the batting cages. The cactus league opens in one week against the Cleveland Indians.
All Star second baseman, Brandon Phillips, announced he is boycotting the media Wednesday morning.
Matt Latos started pitching just five days after knee surgery telling us, "I had this surgery for my elbow in October. I was excited just to get back out with this great group of guys."
"It's like Christmas for all of us. I mean, we work so hard in the off season we need some time off but at the end of the day the guys will tell you a month into the off season your just; you're so used to playing baseball everyday you're ready to go," Zack Cozart, Reds shortstop, said.
The Reds will be back at it early Thursday morning.
