HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (WKRC) -- The University of Cincinnati women's basketball team stumbled in the season opener Saturday night, falling on the road to Northern Kentucky University by a 77-61 score.

The Bearcats entered the second half trailing 35-27 and quickly found themselves down double-digits for the first time after NKUs Kaitlyn Gerrety drained a three.

Cincinnati cut the lead down to 51-48 with 7:35 to play before the Norse exploded for an 11-0 run to put the contest away. NKU added six points from the free throw line while also draining a three during the spurt.
