NKU men's basketball meets Tulane as part of Cure UCD Classic
HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. - Northern Kentucky University will travel to New Orleans, La., on Nov. 23 to meet Tulane for a first-round game in the Cure UCD Classic, the organizers of the event announced Monday.
The following weekend, Northern Kentucky will play both Texas State (Nov. 29) and Southeast Missouri State (Nov. 30) in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, in the final two rounds of the Cure UCD Classic.
Tulane, a member of Conference USA, posted a 20-15 overall record last season. The Green Wave also earned a postseason berth in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
Northern Kentucky has never played Tulane, but the Norse did travel to Louisiana during the 1974-75 season and met then-Division II powerhouse New Orleans. The Privateers - featuring future NBA players Wilbur Holland and Wayne Cooper - rallied for a 97-94 win over Northern Kentucky in that game on Dec. 16, 1974.
Texas State finished 12-22 last season, while Southeast Missouri State compiled a 17-16 mark. This will also mark the first time Northern Kentucky has met either of those two schools in mens basketball.
Northern Kentucky posted an 11-16 overall record last season in its Division I debut. The Norse finished 9-9 in the Atlantic Sun Conference.
