New armored SWAT vehicle arrives for Hamilton County

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) -- An M-RAP,  mine-resistant ambush protected, arrived for the Hamilton County Sheriff's department Tuesday, September 2nd, 2014, from Fort Bliss, Texas.

The armored vehicle will be used by the SWAT team, which says it will be a useful safety tool.

It's part of the defense department's program to recycle old military equipment to local police, which is a hot button issue of sorts.

Some believe it's part of what led to rioting in Ferguson, Missouri.

It's prompted a review of whether that program should continue.
