Annual AFL-CIO Labor Day picnic

ANDERSON TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Jeff Hirsh) -- Thousands of union members and their families are headed for Coney Island on Labor Day 2014, for the 26th annual Cincinnati AFL-CIO Labor Day picnic.

There were more than hot dogs and hamburgers are on the menu. The annual picnic is the traditional start of the campaign season for the area's politicians.

There are fewer candidates at the picnic so far this year, than in years past. It could be because it's generally a Democratic crowd at the picnic, and this election year is not seen as a great year for Democrats so far.

However, most attendees believe the unions are still strong and relevant. Some are just out to get some burgers and dogs.
