Lower Price Hill school becomes two nonprofits

LOWER PRICE HILL, Ohio (WKRC) -- The Lower Price Hill Community School was given a new name.

The school, located on Saint Michael Street, reorganized as two nonprofits to offer more than education.  The school was founded in 1971 as a GED school but over the years it adapted to take care of other community needs as well.
The GED program will now be known as "Education Matters."  All community outreach will be managed by "Community Matters."

Cincinnati Vice Mayor David Mann said, "I talked to the vice president a moment ago and asked her what does community matters mean?  And she said, 'Creating opportunities, removing barriers to opportunities for citizens.'  That's a good definition."

Mann said that through mutual support, respect and love, those barriers can be removed.
