Security changes at Church festival after teen shot

MOUNT HEALTHY, Ohio (Angela Ingram) -- A popular festival installed some major security changes a year after a teenager was shot nearby.
Friday night was the kick-off of the Assumption Church Festival in Mt. Healthy.  The festival runs through Sunday.  Organizers of the festival made big changes to make sure that people were safe after a teen was shot last year in a park nearby where the event is held.

The Church of the Assumption festival always draws a huge crowd.  The food, beer, and rides for children make it a fun family atmosphere.  In 2014 the security was much tighter with a stepped up police presence.  Officers from Mt. Healthy and other areas walked and rode through the festival and the nearby park.

Event organizers wanted to remind people that last years incident had nothing to do with the festival and it is safe to attend.  And after nearly 40 years, festival goers say they'll continue to come for the food and fun.
