New Foundations protesting outside city hall Monday

CINCINNATI (Adam Clements) -- A rally is planned for Monday outside city hall to protest the closure of seven recovery houses in Price Hill.

New Foundations Transitional Living operates the homes where nearly 100 recovering addicts live.

According to the city, New Foundations is operating in violation of zoning codes. City officials say transitional housing should only hold one or two families. 12 to 15 people are living at the New Foundations homes.

Cincinnati mayor, John Cranley, announced a plan last week to give New Foundations 90 days to comply with the codes and enlist the help of people who work with recovering addicts to help the homes' residents find new places to live.

New Foundations responded to the city's request, claiming the city is violating the Fair Housing Act.

The protest is set for 10 a.m.
