West Chester police chief to resign

WEST CHESTER, Ohio (WKRC) -- West Chester's police chief announces he'll retire in a few weeks.

In a letter to trustees, Chief Erik Niehaus said he's resigning to join the law firm of Haughey and Deters as a partner.

Niehaus says the decision was difficult to make. He served as chief for nearly five and a half years and spent more than 19 years with the department.

He says "I truly appreciate the opportunity to have served as your chief and will always have fond memories of my time with West Chester Township." According to the letter, his resignation will be effective at 11:50 p.m. on May 3.
