Police investigating homicides in Westwood
CINCINNATI (Brad Underwood) -- Police are investigating two homicides that happened in Westwood.
Police were called to Percy Avenue in Westwood just after 11:30 p.m. Friday.
They found 38-year-old Jackie Perkins had been shot. He was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he died.
This came less than 24 hours after police were called to the 3000 block of Worthington Avenue where they found 25-year-old Dawan Trotter dead in a yard. This was just a block away from where Perkins was found.
When officials arrived they found Trotter killed from apparent gunshot wounds.
Trotter's family says he had just gotten off work and was walking home after getting off the bus when he was shot.
Trotter's mother, Michelle Hagans says she doesn't understand why someone would do this to her son. She says he didn't hang out in the streets, and he was a good son, brother and father to a 7-year-old girl.
Together, they just want the violence to stop.
"The city has just been plagued with murders of young folks and it has to stop. Everybody, there's so many people hurting in the city behind all of these senseless murders. We just want to appeal to these young people out here today, stop the senseless killing," says Michelle's husband, Will Hagans Jr.
There is no word on if these shootings are related. At this time there are no suspects in the cases.
