Woodlawn homeowner fires a shot at intruder

WOODLAWN, Ohio (WKRC) -- A man, who police say tried to break into a Woodlawn home, nearly gets himself shot Friday morning.
Police say Mark Montgomery broke a window to get into a home on Riddle Road at 2:45 a.m. Four people were inside at the time.
The homeowner, Phillip Smith, fired a shot at the intruder but missed. Police say Montgomery ran away. Both Smith and his daughter called 911.

Springfield Township officers used a police dog to track to sniff out a trail. They later found and arrested Montgomery at Glenwood Gardens. Police had responded there because of an intrusion alarm. They say Montgomery told them someone had fired a shot at him.

Montgomery is in jail on a burglary charge.  He is also facing a vandalism charge for uprooting a sign and banging it against the door of the police station.
