Nature preserve neighbor takes video of oil in creek

COLERAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio (WKRC) -- Crews have been working through the overnight hours to clean up 10,000 gallons of oil spilled from a pipeline contaminating a creek and a pond in a Colerain Township nature preserve.

Jacob Murray took video of oil in the creek that runs behind his house. He describes the entire creek as black. Other neighbors say they smelled the oil as far back as the weekend.

The oil from the Mid-Valley 20" Pipeline was discovered along a roadway Monday night. The Environmental Protection Agency, The Department of Transportation and management from Sunoco Logistics - which operates the pipeline - descended upon the Oak Glen Nature Preserve.
Crews used heavy equipment and vacuums to remove the oil from the site of the break, a creek and a pond where the oil had accumulated.

The pipeline carries oil from Texas to Michigan. Investigators are trying to determine exactly when the pipeline broke.
