Man accused of trying to hit officer with car appears in court

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A local man was arraigned Saturday after police say he tried to hit a police officer with a vehicle.

20-year-old Joseph Worrall is now facing charges of felonious assault and obstructing official business.

The incident happened Friday on Ruther Avenue in Clifton, just a couple of blocks north of the University of Cincinnati. Investigators say Worrall was trying to get away from Cincinnati Police when he was spotted by U.C. Police officers.

The U.C. officers tried blocking Worrall in a driveway. That's when officers say Worrall backed his vehicle towards an officer before taking off. He was arrested a short time later.

Worrall was charged with felonious assault and obstructing official business. His arraignment is scheduled for Saturday morning.
