Colorado barber refuses service to those who smell like pot

GREELY, Colo. (Derek Drake) -- If you smell like pot, don't come in. The message one Colorado barber is sending to people wanting to get their haircut at his business.

Hugo Corral, 23, is not an opponent of marijuana, or the now legal recreational use of it, but he said many of his customers with children expressed frustration about the issue and the odor.

After a number of complaints, Corral decided to put the "no-pot odor" policy in effect and hung a sign on his front door.

"I feel that it's my right to make the statement," Corral said. "It's the same thing as no shoes, no service."

The policy has come with its share of negative response. Corral said passers-by and angry citizens have ripped up his sign and even spit on his front door. But despite the negative feedback, Corral said the policy isn't going away.
