Baby strapped in stroller falls into retention pond

BUTLER COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) -- A 9-month-old baby falls into a retention pond while strapped in a stroller Monday afternoon.

The little girl and her grandmother were on a walk when the stroller rolled away and into the water around 2p.m.  The incident happened on Windy Harbor Way in the Villages of Providence.  A neighbor, hearing screams, called 911.

The child's sister, who is believed to be in fourth grade, attempted to jump into the pond to locate the stroller with the little girl inside.  The child was in the pond for nearly 30 minutes before being pulled out and given CPR.  Officials say she was not breathing when she left the scene.

Fire officials believe this was an accident.  The child was taken to Children's Hospital in Liberty Township before being flown to Cincinnati Children's.
