Two found dead in Campbell County fire

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Ky. (WKRC) -- UPDATE: Authorities have identified the two people who died in the fire Friday morning as Sandy and Bob Duve.

Firefighters were called to the home on Uhl Road near Cold Spring just before 8 a.m. They later found the couple dead inside the home.

A relative, believed to be a nephew or grandson, jumped to safety. That relative told firefighters about the two people he was living with, being trapped in a second floor bedroom. It took a while for firefighters to locate them. "Due to heavy fire conditions it took us a while to get inside, we went to 2nd, 3rd, 4th alarms, for this type of fire. It was heavy fire and smoke throughout, once we got the fire knocked down we went inside and found two victims," said Fire Chief Gerald Sandfoss.

Neighbors say the home was once a barn that had been converted to a house. Fire officials say it was a total loss.

The relative who jumped was not seriously injured. He was not taken to the hospital.  The state fire marshal is now investigating.
