Trenton cop accused of profiting from impound lot stands trial Monday

TRENTON, Ohio (WKRC) -- A tri-state police lieutenant accused of profiting from an impound lot stands trial Monday.

Lieutenant Michael Gillen faces charges of tampering with evidence, theft in office and unauthorized use of property.

Gillen is accused of inappropriately profiting from the impound lot and using the "Ohio Law Enforcement Gateway", an electronic information network for an unauthorized use. The gateway allows law enforcement agencies to share criminal justice data.

Gillen is on paid administrative leave and is free on bond.
