Two suspects arrested in two separate crashes

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- A wild day Monday for Cincinnati Police. What started as a search for one suspect leads to two people headed to jail.

A bit of a wild scene here in Roselawn as two separate police chases end in crashes, with both suspects arrested.

It started with police attempting to execute a search warrant at home on Chalfonte in Avondale. The suspect in question drove off, heading onto northbound I- 75.

Police did not pursue him, but the suspect lost control of his car on I-75 near Paddock, hitting at least two cars. He then ran off, but police were able to catch up to him. Only Local 12 cameras were rolling when the man was arrested.

Before he was caught, police were active in the area searching for him when one of the officers spotted another vehicle with a license plate that came up stolen. The officer was using an electric license plate reader. As soon as the officer flipped on his siren, that suspect driving, a red sedan, took off.

He only made it about 200 yards before he flipped the car on Section Road, crashing into a telephone pole. Police quickly arrested that man as well.

Cincinnati police Capt. Jeff Butler credits a little bit of luck, good timing, and just flat out good police work in both instances. "When you deploy the high-end technology that we do, you're never surprised at what you have. It was just good observation skills and good old-fashioned police work by the officer that recognized another crime was occurring, took action to it. and the nice part is we've made two arrests of two individuals with felonies and they're off the streets in the city of Cincinnati."

Now police tell us there were only minor injuries in both instances.. We're also told that that first suspect will be facing significant drug charges. Officers have not yet released the names of the two suspects.
