Local Football Coach Avoids Prison Time

LOCKLAND, Ohio (WKRC) -- A local high school football coach will not go to prison for stealing school football equipment.

But a felony conviction also means he can't coach or teach at public schools.  Tyronne Copeland of Golf Manor pleaded guilty Wednesday to theft in office for selling school football equipment online for 250 dollars last year.

The Lockland coach sold the equipment on E-Bay to undercover police officers.  A judge ordered him to pay a 150 dollar fine plus the 250 dollars for the stolen football knee and thigh pads.

The district put Copeland on unpaid administrative leave after his October arrest.
