Visitation for African-American judge

CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- Friends, family, and colleagues remember a prominent African-American pioneer. Judge William McClain died last week at age 101.

A public visitation was held Wednesday at Allen Temple AME church on Reading Road. It continues Thursday at 10:00 a.m.

McClain was a legal trailblazer. He became Cincinnati's city solicitor, then, Hamilton County's first African-American Common Pleas Judge.

McClain's family says he broke down many barriers for minorities in the legal field. "Along the way, the judge certainly served as a mentor to probably hundreds of people as well as he received many honorary degrees.  He wrote many articles of significance."
Judge McClain's funeral is set for 11:00 a.m., also at the church.
