Troopers: Driver fell asleep in Clermont County crash that killed two

STONELICK TOWNSHIP, Ohio (Adam Clements) -- State troopers release the names of  two of the people involved in a fatal car accident in Stonelick Township.

Troopers say 18-year old Darin Grubbs fell asleep while driving eastbound on US 50 near Owensville at 10:45 Thursday evening. The car went off the road, down an embankment and came to rest upside down, partially submerged in a creek.

He wasn't hurt. A four-year-old boy was killed in the crash. It took about ten hours for search crews to find 38-year-old Melissa Grubbs. Her body had been carried downstream.

Crews say the search for her was very difficult. "The terrain was a huge obstacle, it has sheer dropoffs on the left side of the creek, which made it really difficult to search, plus the water was moving really quick," says Officer Tom Lakamp.

Says Chief Matthew Rose, "they worked all night along with us, the guys gave a hundred percent trying to save the little child and some things just didn't work out this morning."

Troopers have not released the boy's name.
