Donation Jar Stolen Twice by the Same Duo

FLORENCE, Ky. (Brad Underwood) -- Florence Police are looking for two suspects who stole a donation jar twice over the weekend from the Shell Gas Station on Turfway Road in Florence, KY.

The money in the jar was supposed to be used to help pay for medical bills for Kanaubai Patel, who was attacked on October 24, 2013.  During the robbery, Patel was stabbed and strangled, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down.

Patel's son, Rahol, says the jars taken had about $500 total in them.
"Everyday my regular customers give me lot's of donation for him," said Rahol Patel.
The Patels didn't notice the jar being stolen the first time until late that evening.  After looking at surveillance video with police, they finally found the robbery.

The next day they were onto the male and female duo when they came into the store.
"I called my uncle, he's stealing our jar. We tried to, me and my uncle, tried to catch him, but we didn't catch that guy," said Rahol Patel.
The Patels did chase the man out of the store, but didn't catch either one. The two fled in a dark, older model pick up truck.
Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call the Florence Police Department at 859-334-5552.
