Sub-zero temperatures make it hard to fight Mt. Healthy fire

MT. HEALTHY, Ohio (WKRC) -- The cold makes it a bad day to be outside. It's even worse if you're wet. But that's often the job for firefighters.
Crews were called to a house fire at about 9 a.m. Monday morning on St. Clair Avenue in Mt. Healthy. Jeff Hirsh has the story.

The sub-zero temperatures made this fire especially difficult to fight. The water to put out the flames froze on the house, the firefighters' gloves, the trucks and the ground. "We still have hot spots. we totally lost the roof on this side of the structure so we had crews on the inside, pulled ceilings that's how we got the stubborn part of the fire from spreading."

Nine additional fire departments were called into to help with the manpower. They were able to rotate firefighters in and out. A bus was also brought in to try to keep them warm.
The homeowner made it out safely. No firefighters were hurt either. They're still working to pinpoint the cause, but they say there's nothing to make them think it's suspicious.
