Mom Ruled Competent to Stand Trial for Death of Baby

NORTH FAIRMOUNT, Ohio (WKRC) -- A judge says a local mother accused of smothering her baby is competent to stand trial.

24-year-old Janishcia Cottingham is due back in court at the end of next month for the judge to hear her plea of not guilty by reason of insanity.

Cottingham's family says the North Fairmount woman suffered from depression and anxiety.  Cottingham faces murder and assault charges in the August 15th death of her 15-month-old daughter, Robin.
