Fans Passionate About Crosstown Classic

CINCINNATI (WKRC) - 10,250 fans turned out for the Crosstown Classic at U.S. Bank Arena Saturday night. This is the second year in a row the annual matchup between the Xavier and University of Cincinnati basketball teams took place at a neutral location. The game was moved to U.S. Bank arena after a brawl between the two teams in 2011.

This is the last year the two teams are contracted to play. But fans at the game said this is their favorite game of the year. Saturday night's game was the 81st meeting between the two teams. No matter how the teams are ranked, fans say you never know how the game is going to turn out. This is a big rivalry and the teams are known to really rise to the occasion.

This year, Xavier won 64-47.

Officials from both schools are still deciding if the series will continue. If it does continue, they will have to decide if it will continue to be played at a neutral location or will return to the campuses' arenas.
