Judge Grants Class-Action Status in Speed Camera Battle
ELMWOOD, Ohio (WKRC) -- Opponents of the speed cameras in the Village of Elmwood have won another legal battle.
A lawsuit that started with one man fighting a 105 dollar fine could now include hundreds more who have been caught speeding by traffic enforcement cameras in the Village of Elmwood.
Hamilton County Judge Robert Ruehlman granted class action status for a lawsuit originally filed by Michael Cutcher. That means the suit can now include anyone who has paid a fine since the cameras were put in place in September of last year.
From that date until march 7th, 20,000 citations were issued and the Village of Elmwood collected 1.75 million dollars. Cutcher's attorney says they are now trying to figure out who will join the class action.
