White Dinner Party Takes Over Washington Park
A special pop-up dining event took over Washington Park in Over-the-Rhine Saturday night.
The event is called "Diner en Blanc," which means white dinner. It's a global phenomenon which started in Paris and now takes place in cities all over the world. The goal is to utilize public spaces for elegant community gatherings. People sign up for the event but aren't told about the event's location until the last minute. Cincinnati hosted a Diner en Blanc last year in Lytle Park.
More than 1,000 people attended Saturday night's event in Washington Park. Everyone was asked to dress in white and bring white tablecloths for tables. There were also many white balloons and candles used for decoration during the event.
"It's a great experience to see this many people out and doing something so important in the middle of downtown which was not happening for so many years. It's an impressive event," said Jamie Humes.
