Cincinnati to Place Bid on U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials
The city of Cincinnati announced today it will place a bid to host the 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials.
Officials from the Greater Cincinnati Sports Corporation and the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon are working in collaboration on the bid.
American long distance runner Ryan Hall will visit Cincinnati on August 8th to oversee the marathon course design. The bid is due August 15th.
The Olympic Marathon Trials is a mens and womens 26.2 mile race before the 2016 Summer Games scheduled to be held in Rio de Janeiro, August 5-21st. 100 male and 100 female runners are expected to compete.
The event will attract national attention to the host city as well as tens of thousands of visitors according to Game Day Communications.
