Firefighers Honored for Heroic Rescue

Two local firefighters will be honored Tuesday for saving a teenage girl from drowning.

The rescue happened June 18th when a group of teens were fishing in a canal.

A 15 year-old boy drowned.

Joseph Phillips and Scott Baum were the first two Firefighter paramedics on the scene.  They found a girl clinging for her life onto a branch in the swift moving river and jumped in to save her.

They will be honored with the Meritorious Service Medal today.

The ceremony is Tuesday, July 30th at 11am at the Hamilton Fire Headquarters on Pershing Avenue.
