Nine People Arrested In NKY Drug Raid
COVINGTON (WKRC-TV)- The FBI, SWAT Team and Covington Police now say nine people, including four brothers, are under arrest after a drug raid this morning in Northern Kentucky.
Local 12 was first on the scene when authorities started serving warrants in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard and Garrard Street sometime before 6:30 a.m.
The Louisville office of the FBI says the raids are the end result of a 15 month drug trafficking investigation. The names of those arrested and the exact charges they face have not yet been official released by officers.
Local 12 has learned that several homes in Covington and one on Mount Auburn were raided by the officers. Two of the homes were owned by Ella Blackwell and her husband. Ella tells Local 12 that her sons are not involved in drugs. "Everything we got we worked hard for. They even took my 2007 Mustang that I paid $700 a month for five years and they don’t tell you why... I just leave everything in the Lord’s hand. He will take care of me.”
Ella described the first moments of the raid early on Wednesday morning. “I am just devastated being woke up a quarter to six this morning with rifles, shotguns, 10-15 FBI’s, Covington cops, all at my door. Pulled out and told me shut up. Handcuffed my husband, brought my husband out of the house, they still haven’t told me why.”
Local 12 continues to follow this story and we'll post new information as soon as it is available.
