Oxford Woman Dies in Wrong-Way Crash

The Hamilton County Sheriff and Silverton Police released new information on that deadly one-way crash on I-71 early Thursday morning.

Officials say 23 year old Chelsie Owens of Oxford was driving south in the northbound lanes of I-71 near the Stewart Road exit around 2:40 a.m. when she struck two other vehicles.

Owens car side-swiped a vehicle driven by 52 year old John Dolcini III of Maineville, who was in the northbound left hand lane.  Owens car then went into the center lane and collided with a car driven by 56 year old Michael Thompson of Cincinnati.

Debris struck a four vehicle driven by 27 year old Daniel Magyar of Nor wood.

Owens died at the scene.  Dolcini III was treated for injuries at the scene.  Thompson was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center where he is listed in stable condition. Magyar was not injured.

Police suspect alcohol and/or drugs played a role in the crash.  All the drivers were wearing seat belts.

The crash remains under investigation. Police don't know how long Owens may have been driving the wrong way on the highway before she hit the other vehicles.
