Fire in Newport Causes $100,000 in Damage
The Newport Fire Department says that a fire Sunday afternoon on Roberts Street caused about $100,000 in damage.
Crews were called to the home about 2 p.m. Everyone did make it out of the home safely. 7 people who live in the home were displaced and are currently being assisted by the Red Cross.
Investigators say it appears the cause of the fire is electrical. They believe an outlet where an air conditioner was being used sparked the fire.
A number of fire departments in the area assisted with fighting the fire. The smoke could be seen for miles even from across the Ohio River.
