Government Shut Down Week 2

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WKRC) -- The Government shutdown enters its second week and neither side shows any sign of budging.

In a stop at the Federal Emergency Management Agency, President Obama pressured Congress to pass a spending bill with no strings attached.

FEMA furloughed 86 percent of its workers last week.  House Speaker John Boehner and his fellow Republicans are doubling down on their position.

Monday on the Senate floor, Ohio Democrat Sherrod Brown said the shutdown is hurting important scientific research and space exploration.  But building a scientific endeavor takes days and weeks and months and years, killing one is a matter of an interruption of 2 or 3 or 4 or 5 weeks.  That's why the shutdown is dangerous.  That's why going against the debt ceiling is catastrophic.  It makes no sense.

John Boehner said, A senior white house staffer this morning said that the President would rather default on our debt than to sit down and negotiate.  Now, the American people expect that when their leaders have differences and we are in a time of crisis that we will sit down and at least have a conversation.
