14-Pound Utah Baby May Be America's Biggest For 2013
OREM, Utah (WKRC) -- Just two months remaining for anyone to beat Sara Brandon's record.
The Utah mother is believed to have the country's heaviest born baby of 2013.
Joel Brandon Jr., nicknamed J.J., was born by cesarean section on May 9th. He weighed in at 14 pounds and measured 22 inches long.
Ms. Brandon said she was stunned by how big J.J. was when she delivered him at 38-and-a-half weeks. Because of J.J.'s size, two doctors had to help with the birth.
After a week in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, J.J. went home, where he is in good health.
At his last check-up, J.J.'s doctor said he was in the 150th percentile for height and weight for his age group. However, doctors said that as J.J. grows and becomes a toddler, he will slim down closer to average size.
The biggest newborn in the world is thought to be George King from England, who came into this world in February weighing 15 pounds, 7 ounces.
