Trash Collection Changes for Cincinnati Residents
CINCINNATI (WKRC) -- There are some changes to trash collection in the city of Cincinnati today.
From now on, city residents are required to use new carts that have been distributed for pickup. Everything must be in them. Garbage collectors will not take loose garbage bags next to the cans.
Garbage carts must be out by 6 a.m. The lids must be closed.
During some weeks, such as after Thanksgiving and Christmas, putting out extra garbage out will be allowed.
This is part of a move to make it easier and safer for the collectors. It will also save the city money. The city said it had to make the changes after voters rejected a trash collection fee.
Also beginning today, the city will no longer collect trash from commercial buildings, mixed-use buildings or buildings with more than four residential units.
