Hot-Sauce Lawsuit Rejected
IRWINDALE, Calif. (WKRC) -- A battle over hot sauce heats up in a southern California factory town.
You've probably seen a bottle of the popular chili sauce called Sriracha.
Thursday a judge rejected the town of Irwindale's initial bid to close the plant that makes it. The city sought the shutdown to reduce the pungent smell of pepper and garlic fumes coming from the huge factory. It processes some 100 million pounds of peppers a year into Sriracha and two other Asian food sauces.
Neighbors complain the odor gives them headaches, burns their throat and makes their eyes water.
