Korean War Memorial Dedicated in Clermont County
On Saturday, the 60th anniversary of the Korean armistice, a Korean War Memorial was dedicated at Miami Meadows Park in Clermont County.
The erection of this memorial was a longtime goal of Korean War veteran Bill Knepp. He said he would not be alive today if it were not for a fellow soldier from Portsmouth, Ohio named Paul Bradley.
"Paul pushed me over, he threw me down and took it for me. So for 30 years, I've had this in my mind and what we done here is we've dedicated it to Paul Bradley," Knepp said.
The large marble slate was unveiled to a crowd of hundreds at the park Saturday afternoon. On one side of the 6' by 3' slate is the image of the bunker Knepp built in Korea. On the other side are the names of 19 men from Clermont County who were killed in the war.
Knepp and 2 other local Korean War vets started collecting money for the memorial about 3 years ago. They received all their funding through donations.
