Officer Involved Shooting Outside of a Mall

Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred at the Cincinnati Premium Outlets in Monroe.

The shooting happened around 9:15p.m. Saturday night when an officer was called out to the outlets for a report of shoplifting.

According to the Monroe Police Department, when the officer arrived the suspected shoplifters started to run away. One of them got into a car to make his getaway.

Lieutenant Brian Curless says that the officer was in front of the vehicle and the subject accelerated at the officer. Lt. Curless went on to say that the officer involved in the incident ended up on the hood and then fired two shots through the windshield.

The driver was hit by the officers gunfire and was taken to the hospital.

Authorities have not released the condition or names of the officer or the suspects that were involved.
