Murder Mystery: US Search in Pregnant Mother Murder

BROWN COUNTY (Deb Dixon) -- Michigan, Saint Louis and Tennessee all have had fatal highway shootings.  Is it road rage, or something more sinister, such as a serial highway shooter?

Brittany Stykes appears the unlikeliest of murder victims.  By all accounts she and husband Shane were happy together raising toddler Aubree and excited about a new baby.

Brittany was five months pregnant, the fetus died, when the 22 year old mother was shot to death in the jeep she was driving.

14 month old Auburee was grazed by one of the bullets.

Brittany and Aubree were driving on US-68.  It is not a country road through Brown County; it is a busy highway 560 miles from northwest Ohio to western Kentucky.  People drive it to avoid I-75 traffic.

The FBI is looking into the Michigan shootings; there are three in the same area.

Last week Brown County called Tennessee detectives after four people were found shot to death in a car on a Mountain Road.  Someone was just arrested for that.

Evidence will be back from the state lab soon to compare with other crimes, including the bullets used to kill mother and unborn child, and the tire track found near the wrecked jeep where Aubree was found bloody and crying for her mother.

The killer could have kept driving.  He could have killed before, and after.

There is a $5,000 reward through Crime Stoppers for information that identifies the shooter.  You can call the Brown County Sheriffs Office or Crime Stoppers at 352-3040.
