Father of OTR Murder Victim: "It's Just The Streets"
Police are looking for a killer in Over the Rhine. Curtis Stanford Junior was shot several times in the head on Saturday night.
Local 12 spoke to his father about the violent death. "It's just the streets. The way young men carry themselves, just the aggravation of everybody killing each other, it just don't make sense," says the victim's father, Curtis Stanford Senior.
Curtis Stanford Senior says he tried to steer his son away from a life on the streets and while Curtis Junior may have made some poor life decisions, his dad says nothing he did could have been worth someone taking his life. "I let the Lord handle it. I put it in his hands, but you can't run and you can't hide. You can't ever run away from that kind of stuff. You did it, got done with it, but you're going to get punished," says Stanford Senior.
Curtis says he has faith that local law enforcement will do their best to track down his son's murderer. He also hopes other parents of young men and women use Curtis Junior's death as a lesson, to do whatever they can to keep their children on a positive path. "Every little bit helps. If you save five out of ten, you done good, you done good. We've just got to push it, we've just got to push the issue because it's bad," says Stanford Senior.
If you have information about Stanford's death, call Crimestoppers at 352-3040. Remember, you don't have to give your name and you could get cash for your clues.
