San Jose, CA (Sports Network) - The San Jose Sharks activated defenseman Brent Burns off injured reserve Saturday.

Burns has yet to play this season due to a lower body injury.

The 27-year-old had 11 goals, 26 assists and a plus-8 rating over 81 games for the Sharks last season.

To make room on the roster, San Jose reassigned defenseman Matt Irwin to Worcester in the AHL.

Irwin posted two points, including his first career NHL goal, in nine games this season.
