Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes have placed center Tim Brent on injured reserve because of a lower body injury.

Brent hasn't played since Feb. 14 against Toronto. He has two assists in 13 games this season.

The Hurricanes recalled defenseman Ryan Murphy from his junior team in Kitchener on an emergency basis. The 12th overall pick of the 2011 draft leads Kitchener defensemen with eight goals and 39 points in 46 games this season.
