Denver, CO (Sports Network) - The Colorado Avalanche announced on Wednesday that forward Steve Downie will miss the remainder of the 2013 season after impending knee surgery.

The feisty 25-year-old winger was struck down during Tuesday's 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Downie recorded one assist in two games this season, after striking for 14 goals and 41 points in 75 games between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Avs in 2011-12.
