Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - The Phoenix Coyotes have signed defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson to a six-year contract. The deal is reportedly worth $33 million.

"Oliver is an exceptional young player who will continue to improve as he matures," Coyotes general manager Don Maloney said. "He is an important part of our future and we are pleased to have agreed on a long term contract."

This season, Ekman-Larsson leads all Coyotes defensemen in scoring and assists with three goals and 14 helpers. The 21-year-old had career highs in goals (13) and assists (19) last season while playing in all 82 games.

In three NHL seasons, the former first-round pick has recorded 17 goals and 43 assists in 157 contests.
