Recap: Boston vs. Tampa Bay

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - Tuukka Rask notched his fifth shutout of the season with a 30-save effort, as the Boston Bruins stymied the Tampa Bay Lightning, 2-0, at TD Garden.

Dennis Seidenberg and Daniel Paille each scored in the second period for the Bruins, who won for just the second time in their last seven games.

Boston sits second in the Eastern Conference and at the top of the Northeast Division with 61 points. Montreal also has the same amount of points, but the Bruins have two games remaining to the Canadiens' one.

Anders Lindback made 22 saves for Tampa Bay, which has dropped seven of eight.

"I feel for our guys because everybody makes mistakes. I think, truthfully, we may have made less mistakes than the Bruins did, but we couldn't bury our chances," said Lightning head coach Jon Cooper.

After being outshot 9-4 through the opening 20 minutes, the Bruins doubled their total while beating Lindback twice in the middle frame.

Seidenberg gathered a drop pass from Brad Marchand and ripped a slap shot from the right point past Lindback on the far side at the 4:22 mark.

A takeaway by Shawn Thornton in the offensive zone resulted in Gregory Campbell sending a cross-ice pass that Paille hammered behind the Tampa Bay goalie at 13:31.

Rask turned away 12 shots in the third period to preserve his 16th career shutout.

"Overall I thought we played hard. We moved the puck quickly, and when there was a breakdown Tuukka (Rask) was there to make the big saves. I know if we keep playing that way we will only get better," Bruins coach Claude Julien said.
