Recap: Detroit vs. Columbus

Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Vinny Prospal scored with just 24.7 seconds to play as the Columbus Blue Jackets took a 3-2 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Thursday.

Derek Dorsett posted a goal and an assist while R.J. Umberger also scored for the Blue Jackets, who snapped a three-game losing streak and a six-game road skid. Sergei Bobrovsky made 28 saves in the win.

"It's a huge win for us tonight, especially taking one in this town," said Dorsett. "We had some intensity tonight and came out hard. This was a fun game to be a part of."

Columbus, though, did lose center Artem Anisimov to a possible head injury in the game after he was taken off on a stretcher following his head hitting the ice.

On the play early in the second period, Anisimov tripped over Detroit's Ian White and fell to the ice. As he was falling, Detroit's Kyle Quincey also fell to the ice and his elbow came down on the head of Anisimov. After several minutes on the ground, his head and neck was immobilized and he was taken into the locker room on a stretcher.

It was later announced that he was awake and responsive and had been taken to Detroit Medical Center for further evaluation.

Damien Brunner and Valtteri Filppula both scored for the Red Wings, who have dropped their past five games. Jimmy Howard gave up all three goals on 24 shots.

"I thought we started good, but I didn't like our second period," said Detroit head coach Mike Babcock. "But in the third period we were terrible and I wasn't happy with it. We have to find a way to get things done here."

With time winding down, Detroit had the puck in the Columbus end, but a turnover saw the Blue Jackets take the puck the other way.

From the right boards, Dorsett sent a pass over to the left circle for James Wisniewski, who then passed it to the low right side where Prospal spun around before stuffing in the backhand for a 3-2 lead.

Detroit got Howard out of the net after the faceoff, but didn't have enough time left to mount an attack and the Blue Jackets escaped with the victory.

The Red Wings needed just 18 seconds to take a 1-0 lead when Brunner was able to stuff the puck in from the left side for his eighth goal of the season.

Just over two minutes later it was a 2-0 game as Filppula deflected in a Brian Lashoff shot from in front for his fourth of the season.

Columbus got one back on the power play at the 4:23 mark when Umberger was able to knock in the puck from down low for his second of the season.

The second period passed without a goal, but the Jackets tied it up at the 5:03 mark of the third as a Detroit turnover in its own end saw Derick Brassard throw a shot on net from the slot and Dorsett knocked in the rebound.
