Recap: Colorado vs. Nashville

Denver, CO (Sports Network) - Tyson Barrie's tally at the 50-second mark of overtime was the lone score in Colorado's 1-0 victory over Nashville at Pepsi Center.

Barrie alertly followed up a Greg Zanon point shot, flipping the rebound home from the right side before one minute elapsed in the extra session.

"I saw 'Zanny' loading up for the one timer. It popped out (of Rinne's glove) and I knew I would have a chance," said Barrie of his winning score.

Semyon Varlamov kept his club in the game, stopping 34 shots to record his 11th career shutout for the Avalanche, who won for just the second time in their last 10 games.

"I felt good all game. For sure a game like this will help us get our confidence back," Varlamov said. "It was good to make saves at the start of the game, because in other ones, we've given up early goals."

Pekka Rinne made 23 saves for the Predators, who have lost two in a row since a three-game win streak.

Varlamov produced the first highlight-reel stop of the contest, sliding across the crease and making a diving pad save on a Paul Gaustad redirection -- one of his 12 first-period stops.

Rinne countered, making a spectacular diving stop on a Matt Duchene offering from the left wing in the final seconds of the first.

Varlamov made a nice toe save in the crease on Gabriel Bourque in close during a four-minute power play late in the second and halted seven more Nashville chances in the third.

Rinne kept up his end of the bargain with a 10-save final period.

"We've got to start getting two points on the road," said ex-Avalanche and current Predators forward Brandon Yip. "You look at our games in the past and we can't get on the board first. We have to have better starts going forward."
